Ingredients

3 c. milk
2/3 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch, slightly heaped
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
3 egg yolk
2 Tbsp. butter
4 heaping Tbsp. Nestle Quik
1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
Preparation

Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in heavy saucepan, gradually stir in milk.
Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
Cook for 1 minute.
Beat egg yolks, gradually stir about one fourth hot mixture into yolks.
Add to remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly, cook 30 seconds, remove from heat.
Stir in butter and vanilla.
Pour into baked pastry shell.
Cover with meringue made with egg whites.
