Toffee Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 c. + sugar
    1 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg, separated
    1/2 c. pecans
Preparation
    At least 3 days before serving, beat together flour, 1 cup sugar, butter (softened), vanilla and egg yolk. Press batter into a greased 10 x 15-inch baking sheet. Beat the egg white and brush over the batter. Sprinkle with sugar and chopped pecans. Bake at 275\u00b0 for 3/4 to 1 hour. If bars don't look sugared, lightly sugar again. Cut into bars while hot. Store tightly covered.
