Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 oz. red food coloring
    1 tsp. soda, mixed with 1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs; beat well.
    Sift flour, salt and cocoa together.
    Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
    Add vanilla and red food coloring; mix well. Fold in soda and vinegar; do not beat the dough.
    Bake in three 9-inch greased and floured round pans for 25 to 30 minutes, or in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
