Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. lemon or 2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. flour
Preparation

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs until light and fluffy.
Add milk and flavorings.
Add soda and baking powder to first cup of flour.
Stir in additional flour to stiffen.
The less flour and handling of the dough the softer the cookies.
Roll out and cut with a glass or cookie cutter.
Don't roll thin.
Bake at 400\u00b0.
