Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream butter; gradually add sugar.
Beat until fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Combine flour, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda; add to butter and sugar mixture.
Chill dough for 1 hour.
Shape into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar and place on lightly greased cookie sheet and press flat with sugared bottom of glass.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes.
Makes 5 dozen.
