Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    1 1/2 c. cream
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Put sugar, syrup and 1/2 cup cream into heavy bottom pan. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
    Bring to boil and boil to soft ball stage.
    Stir gently to prevent burning (don't beat or will cause sugar to crystalize).
