Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. cooking oil
    1 apple, diced fine
    1/2 c. sugar
    cloves (as needed)
    1 head cabbage, shredded
    4 to 5 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 onion, peeled and cored
Preparation
    Finely chop or shred 1 head of cabbage and put it into a pot holding water to a depth of about 2-inches.
    Core 1 onion and pack it with cloves.
    Place it in the center of the cabbage.
    Add 1 sweet apple, diced fine.
    Cook until tender-crisp.
    Add wine vinegar, sugar and oil.
    Simmer.
