Hard Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups sugar
    2/3 cups light corn syrup
    3/4 cups water
    1 dram flavoring oil
    powdered sugar (optional)
    1 tsp. food coloring
Preparation
    Combine sugar, light corn syrup, and water in large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.
    Boil, without stirring until temperature reaches 310 degrees.
    Remove from heat; add food coloring and oil.
    Pour onto lightly greased cookie sheet.
    Cool, then break into pieces,
    and roll in powdered sugar to coat.
    Makes 2 pounds.
