Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 round c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
1/2 c. soft shortening
2/3 c. milk
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 Tbsp. butter
pared and quartered apples
cinnamon to taste
Preparation

Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
Work in shortening with fingers.
Add milk gradually.
Roll out dough on floured board.
Cut into squares and place pared and quartered apples on each.
Sprinkle with cinnamon.
Pinch edges of dough together to form dumplings.
Place in baking dish.
Cover all with syrup made from sugar, water and butter simmered together.
Bake for 30 minutes in moderate 350\u00b0 oven.
Baste dumplings during baking.
