Fruit Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. pastry flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    6 Tbsp. shortening
    2 c. chopped or sliced fruit
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 egg yolk
    1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients; add shortening and mix lightly with fork.
    Add egg yolk to milk; add to dry mixture to make soft dough.
    Roll half the dough 1/4-inch thick; cut into quarters. Fit each into muffin pan.
    Fill with fruit; sweeten to taste. Pinch edges together on top.
    Repeat with remaining dough.
    Bake in hot oven at 425\u00b0 for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 375\u00b0 and bake 15 minutes longer.
    Apples, peaches, strawberries or rhubarb may be used.
    Makes 8 dumplings.
