Chocolate Delight Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. light brown sugar
3 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (16 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits
1 c. shredded coconut
3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Preparation

Cream shortening with 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar.
Add egg yolks and vanilla; beat for 2 minutes.
Add dry sifted ingredients; mix well.
Spread in greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
Sprinkle chocolate bits over batter, coconut and nuts.
Beat egg whites until fluffy and add remaining 1 cup brown sugar; beat until stiff.
Spread on top.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
Cut into squares.
