Minestrone - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. water
    2 c. chicken broth
    1 1/4 lb. green cabbage, cut in 1/2-inch strips (6 c.)
    4 oz. spinach, torn (2 c.)
    salt to taste
    garlic-basil seasoning
    1 lb. white turnips, dried
    1 (14 1/2 oz.) can tomatoes (in juice), broken up
    1 (16 oz.) can vegetarian baked beans (in tomato sauce)
    1/4 tsp. pepper, freshly ground
    grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Preparation
    In a large pot, bring water and chicken broth to a boil.
    Add turnips. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. Add tomatoes and cabbage. Simmer 20 minutes longer or until vegetables are tender. Add remaining ingredients except cheese.
    Cover and cook 5 minutes longer.
    Serve with Parmesan cheese.
    Makes 6 servings.
