Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. butter (or Crisco plus 1/2 tsp. salt)
    2 eggs
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. cocoa
    2 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    3 c. flour (rounded or heaping)
Preparation
    Mix and beat well the sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla.\tAdd cocoa and soda in water.
    Alternating, beating after each, mix buttermilk and flour.
    It is important to alternate these as you add to the flour mixture, ending with the one you start with.
