Twice-Cooked Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    2 egg whites
Preparation
    Stir sugar into corn syrup, water and dash of salt until dissolved.
    Boil to medium ball stage (240\u00b0).
    Slowly pour 1/3 over beaten egg whites, beating constantly.
    Cook remaining syrup to very hard ball stage (265\u00b0).
    Test.
    Add several drops to water.
    Beat syrup in candy mixture.
    Continue beating.
    When mixture holds its shape from a spoon, add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Drop from teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet.
