1/2 c. shortening (part butter)
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sour cream
Preparation

Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream.
Divide dough and roll out to 1/4-inch thickness on well floured pastry cloth.
Cut with cookie cutters and place on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 400\u00b0, until lightly browned.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen 2-inch cookies.
