George Strait'S Spanish Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. raw rice
    2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
    1 small onion, chopped
    1/2 bell pepper, chopped
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. chili powder
    1 (10 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
    2 c. water
Preparation
    In a skillet, brown rice in shortening.
    Add the onion and bell pepper.
    Stir, add salt, chili powder and tomatoes, including juice.
    Add water.
    Cover and simmer 30 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
