Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 to 3 lb. round steak, 1-inch thick
    1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. paprika
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 large onion, sliced
    1 large green pepper, sliced
    1 can (4 oz.) chopped mushrooms, undrained
    1 bottle (14 oz.) ketchup
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Remove excess fat from steak; cut meat into 6 to 8 pieces. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; pound into both sides of meat with mallet or edge of saucer.
    Brown meat in shortening in heavy skillet.
    Add onion, pepper and mushrooms.
    Blend ketchup and water; pour over steak.
    Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, about 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.
