Homemade Spaghetti Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. olive or vegetable oil
    6 oz. bacon, chopped*
    16 oz. sweet Italian sausage, peeled and crumbled*
    16 oz. ground beef, crumbled*
    1 c. chopped onions
    1/2 c. bell pepper, chopped
    1/2 c. mushrooms, chopped
    2 tsp. minced garlic
    2 tsp. basil, chopped
    2 tsp. oregano
    1 Tbsp. basil
    2 tsp. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    1/4 c. ketchup
    1 (24 oz.) can tomatoes, crushed
    1 1/2 tsp. red pepper, crushed
Preparation
    In large, preheated pot, saute bacon and 1/2 of the onions, bell pepper, mushrooms and seasonings.
    Add tomato paste, tomatoes and ketchup.
    Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    In preheated skillet, saute remaining vegetables.
    Add meats and seasonings; brown thoroughly.
    Drain fat in colander; let stand until sauce is done.
    Add to sauce; simmer 10 minutes more.
