Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 tsp. water
2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped pecans
granulated sugar
Preparation

Cream butter until soft.
Gradually add sugar.
Cream until light and fluffy.
Blend in water and vanilla.
Combine flour and chopped nuts.
Add gradually to creamed mixture.
Mix thoroughly until with lightly floured hands.
Break off small pieces of dough and shape them like dates.
Place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheet; bake them 10 to 15 minutes (or until very light brown) in a 325\u00b0 oven.
While still warm, roll the cookies in granulated sugar.
