Toffee Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
    1 egg yolk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 lb. sweet chocolate, melted
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream butter.
    Add sugar gradually; cream well.
    Add egg yolk and vanilla; blend.
    Add flour and salt.
    Blend to moisten flour. Spread in a rectangle, about 10 x 15-inch, on a greased cookie sheet or on a nongreased Teflon cookie sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 about 20 minutes.
    Spread with melted chocolate while hot.
    Sprinkle with chopped nuts or cake sprinkles if desired.
    Cut into small squares while warm.
    Makes 6 to 7 dozen.
