Old Fashioned Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. vinegar
    4 1/3 c. plain flour (correct measurement)
    1 egg
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly.
    Add egg and beat until creamy.
    Add soda dissolved in vinegar.
    Add vanilla and then add flour gradually to make a stiff batter that can be rolled very thin.
    Cut out and bake in moderate (350\u00b0) oven until brown.
    They are very crisp and continue to taste fresh after 2 weeks.
