Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add egg and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla; mix thoroughly.
Chill dough before rolling out.
Roll out 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured surface.
Cut with floured cookie cutters; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, if desired.
Bake on greased cookie sheets at 375\u00b0 about 15 minutes.
Makes 3 dozen cookies.
