Crusty Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cornmeal (yellow)
    1/2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/4 c. shortening
Preparation
    Combine first 6 ingredients; mix well.
    Place shortening in cast-iron skillet.
    Heat at 425\u00b0 for 5 minutes.
    Remove from oven; pour hot shortening into batter.
    Mix well.
    Quickly pour batter into hot skillet.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
