Speedy Spaghetti Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 (1 1/2 oz.) envelope onion soup mix
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 1/2 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. oregano or basil
    grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Preparation
    Heat shortening in skillet over medium flame (300\u00b0 if using burner-with-a-brain).
    Add beef and garlic and fry, stirring until beef is well browned.
    Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
    Lower flame (200\u00b0 on burner-with-a-brain).
    Cover skillet and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
    Serve over cooked spaghetti or macaroni.
    Top generously with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired. Yield:
    4 servings.
