3 Layer Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 eggs, beaten
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. flour
    1 c. butter
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 1/2 tsp. allspice
    1 c. raisins
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. jam (with seeds; strawberry or blackberry is best)
Preparation
    Cream the butter. Gradually add sugar and cream until light and
    fluffy. Add well beaten eggs. Sift flour and add spices and a pinch of salt. Sift again.
    Add soda to buttermilk. Alternate ingredients, flour and liquid, ending with flour.
    Mix in fruit and nuts.
    Add jam last. Grease pans. Bake at 325\u00b0 for 40 minutes.
