Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
8 eggs
4 c. milk
1 stick cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 tsp. salt
Preparation

Caramelize 1/2 cup sugar in skillet until golden brown, stirring constantly.
While hot, spread evenly over bottom of shallow 2-quart casserole dish (cool).
In bowl, beat eggs until foamy; gradually add remaining cup of sugar.
Beat well after each addition.
Scald milk with cinnamon stick.
Gradually add hot milk to egg mixture, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
Add vanilla and salt.
Pour into casserole.
Place casserole in hot water and bake at 375\u00b0 for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
