Soda Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. margarine (lard or butter)
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 to 6 c. plus flour

Preparation

Cream sugar, eggs and margarine; add sour milk, vanilla and nutmeg.
Sift dry ingredients and mix to a stiff dough.
Roll on floured board about 1/8-inch thick.
Cut with cookie cutters. Sprinkle with additional sugar.
Bake at 325\u00b0 until done (10 to 12 minutes).
For added interest, coloring and cocoa may be mixed into dough.
