Potato Cake(From The 1909 Coupeville Cookbook) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/4 c. sweet milk
    1/4 c. grated chocolate
    1/2 c. mashed potatoes
    1 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    1 1/4 lb. sugar *
    3/4 lb. butter *
    1/2 tsp. ground clove
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    2 eggs, separated
    1/4 lb. chopped citron
    2 lb. currants, floured
    1 lb. raisins, chopped fine
    1 lb. raisins (whole)
    1 lb. flour *
Preparation
    Beat sugar and butter very light; add spices.
    Beat egg yolks; add.
    Beat whites well; add.
    Stir in chopped fruits and lastly the flour and whole raisins alternately.
