Oatmeal Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. boiling water
    1 c. quick oats
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. white sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 beaten eggs
    1/2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Pour the boiling water over the quick oats, stir and let stand for 20 minutes.
    Cream together the shortening, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and eggs.
    Add this to the oatmeal mixture.
    Stir together and bake for 35 minutes at 375 degrees. This is an old fashioned cake, from before the time of electric mixers, please mix by hand.
