Lemon Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    1 lb. brown sugar
    6 eggs
    4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 oz. lemon extract
    1/2 lb. candied cherries
    1 lb. candied pineapple
    1 lb. unchopped pecans
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar together.
    Add egg yolks one at a time. Beat well each time.
    Alternate lemon extract, 2 cups flour and baking powder. Dredge cut up fruit and nuts with the remaining 2 cups of flour.
    Add to mixture.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Let stand overnight.
    Bake in tube pan lined with greased and floured wax paper.
    Bake 2 1/2 hours at 250\u00b0.
