Extra Special Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. Brazil nuts or pecans (1 3/4 c.)
    1 lb. walnuts (2 1/4 c.)
    1 lb. dates (3 c.)
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    pinch of salt
    3 3/4 oz. red maraschino cherries
    3 3/4 oz. green maraschino cherries
    5 eggs
Preparation
    Do not chop nuts or dates, leave whole. Pour sugar over nuts and dates. Sift together and add cake flour, baking powder and salt. Add red and green cherries and juice.
    Separate 5 eggs and add beaten egg yolks.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites last. Grease pans well. Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
    Makes 2 loaf size cakes.
