Picante Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. chopped tomatoes, drain 1 c. liquid before final measure
    2 large bell peppers, diced
    2 large onions, diced
    6 to 8 jalapeno peppers, diced
    3/4 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 clove, chopped garlic (optional)
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients; cook to boiling, then boil for 10 minutes.
    Wash jars and pour hot water in them just before you fill with picante sauce so they will be hot.
    Boil lids 2 to 3 minutes. Fill jars to about 1/2-inch from top.
    Wipe all juice from edges of jar.
    Tighten lids.
    Lids will seal in approximately 2 hours.
