Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    3 c. quick cooking oats
    1 c. raisins
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy.
    Stir in buttermilk.
    Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture.
    Stir in oats, raisins and nuts.
    Drop from tablespoon, 2-inches apart, on lightly greased cookie sheet.
    Bake in 400\u00b0 oven about 8 minutes.
    Cool slightly; remove from pan. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
    You can use sweet milk; reduce soda to 1/4 teaspoon and use 2 teaspoons baking powder.
