Texas Grits Casserole - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. uncooked grits
2 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. chopped green peppers
1/2 c. chopped onions
1 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 tsp. chili powder
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. milk
Preparation

Bring the water to a boil and add grits and the salt.
Let simmer for 6 minutes.
Saute the green peppers and onions in the butter.
Add to the cooked grits, the onion-pepper-butter mixture, cheese, chili powder, eggs and milk.
Pour into a 1 quart casserole dish.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until center is firm. Sprinkle with cheese at the last 5 minutes of baking time.
