Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients

3 c. sugar
3 egg whites
3/4 c. white corn syrup
pinch of salt
1 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped nuts
3/4 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Place sugar, water, corn syrup and salt in saucepan.
Bring to boil, stirring, until sugar dissolves and cook until it forms a hard ball in cold water and spins a thread.
Pour over egg whites that have been beaten until thick.
Add nuts and flavoring and beat until it loses its gloss.
Drop by spoonfuls on wax paper.
