Ingredients

1 c. molasses
1 3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour milk
1/2 c. shortening, melted
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. salt
flour (enough to make mixture consistency to drop from spoon)
Preparation

Add baking soda to molasses and beat thoroughly.
Add the sour milk, shortening, ginger, salt and flour.
Let stand several hours to chill.
Toss about 1/2 of mixture at a time on a slightly floured board and roll to 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut with a cookie cutter dipped in flour and bake on a buttered tin at moderate heat for 10 to 12 minutes.
