Lady Baltimore Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. cake flour
    4 tsp. salt
    1 c. butter
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    1 c. egg whites (7 or 8)
    1/2 c. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Sift
    flour,
    baking
    powder
    and
    salt 3 times.
    Cream butter until
    light and fluffy.
    Add vanilla.
    Add 1 1/2 cups sugar gradually and cream until like whipped cream.
    Add flour and
    milk alternately
    in
    small amounts.
    Begin and end with flour.
    Mix after each addition.
    Beat egg whites until stiff, gradually adding 1/2 cup sugar.
    Beat until glossy.
    Fold egg whites into batter and mix thoroughly.\tTurn into 3 (8-inch or 9-inch)\tlayer pans.
    Bake
    at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 for about 25 minutes.\tCool in the pans.
    Turn out and frost.
