Salt Rising Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    sweet milk
    boiling water
    meal
    salt
    soda
    shortening
    butter
Preparation
    Take 1 cup sweet milk and let come to a boil.
    Thicken with meal.
    Cover and set in warm place. Stir well before going to bed. Next morning, add 1 cup sweet milk, 1 cup boiling water, 1 tablespoon salt and pinch of soda.
    Thicken with flour; keep warm. After it rises well, fix flour as for biscuits and make up.
    Add 1 tablespoon sugar and a little salt.
    Pour in yeast.
    Add three pieces of shortening size of small egg.
    Knead until smooth.
    Make into loaves.
    Put in well-greased pan and when it rises to almost full, bake in moderate oven for 1 hour.
    When done, rub top with butter.
