French Onion Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 pkg. active dry yeast
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    1 envelope instant dry onion soup mix
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    2 1/4 c. warm water
    5 to 6 c. flour
Preparation
    Mix yeast, sugar and 2 cups flour.
    Mix one of the cups of water heated to hot with soup mix.
    Let stand until cool; add rest of water.
    Stir in the shortening until melted.
    Add to this the flour mixture.
    Beat 2 minutes, adding gradually about 3 1/2 cups flour or until very stiff dough.
    Knead until smooth.
    Put in a greased bowl; turn to grease top.
    Cover; let rise in warm place until double, about 30 minutes.
