Bananas Foster - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 bananas, cut in half lengthwise, then cut pieces crosswise
    1/4 c. butter
    1/2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Peel bananas, cut in half lengthwise, then cut pieces crosswise.
    Set aside.
    In a large skillet put butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
    Heat, stirring constantly over low flame until mixture becomes a smooth syrup.
    Add bananas and baste them with syrup for 3 to 4 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
    In a small pan, carefully heat 1/2 cup rum until just warm.
    Pour over bananas and carefully light with a match.
    Baste bananas with sauce until flame dies.
    To serve, place 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream into 6 dessert dishes.
    Top with bananas and sauce.
    Makes 6 servings.
