Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. dates, cut up
1 lb. raisins, cut up
6 c. boiling water
8 tsp. bicarbonate of soda
2 lb. chopped walnuts
6 c. sugar
9 Tbsp. butter
8 eggs
4 tsp. vanilla
12 c. flour
Preparation

Pour water over dates and raisins.
Melt butter.
Stir in eggs, sugar and vanilla.
Add flour and soda alternately with dates, raisins and nuts.
Fill greased 1-pound coffee cans 1/2 to 2/3 full.
Bake at 350\u00b0 approximately 1 1/2 hours.
Makes 8 to 9 (1-pound) cans.
