Chow Mein - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. diced pork
    3 lb. diced beef
    9 Tbsp. fat
    3 c. water or chicken broth
    3 c. onions
    9 c. celery, sliced diagonally
    3 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. pepper
    3 (No. 2) cans bean sprouts
    18 Tbsp. soy sauce (1 c. plus 2 Tbsp.)
    1 c. sliced mushrooms
    6 Tbsp. cornstarch
    3 (10 oz.) cans water chestnuts
Preparation
    Brown meat thoroughly in fat.
    Add water and seasonings.
    Cook 30 minutes.
    Add celery, onions and cornstarch mixed with liquid. Add soy sauce, chestnuts and bean sprouts.
    Stir and cook until thickened and meat tender.
    Add mushrooms just before done.
    Serve over rice.
    Serves 18.
