Down Home Crab Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. mayonnaise
    1 egg, beaten
    1/3 c. minced green pepper
    3 Tbsp. minced onion
    1 tsp. dry mustard
    1/4 to 1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 lb. fresh lump crabmeat, drained
    about 2 c. fresh breadcrumbs
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    tartar sauce (optional)
Preparation
    Combine mayonnaise and egg in a large bowl; mix in the next 5 ingredients.
    Stir in crabmeat and 1 to 1 1/4 cups breadcrumbs or enough to hold mixture together.
    Shape into 8 patties.
    Coat patties with remaining breadcrumbs.
    Heat butter and oil in a large heavy skillet; add crab cakes in batches and fry until lightly browned on both sides.
    Serve with tartar sauce.
