Ingredients

2 pkgs. (16 squares) semi-sweet baking chocolate, divided
3/4 C. firmly packed brown sugar, light or dark
1/4 C. real butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. real vanilla
1/2 C. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 C. walnuts (black walnuts can be used if you like the taste like I do)
Preparation

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Coarsely chop 8 squares of chocolate; set aside.
Microwave remaining 8 squares of chocolate in large bowl on high for 1-2 minutes.
Stir until melted and smooth.
Stir in sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla.
Stir in flour and baking powder; (I mix these two together in a separate bowl and then add to the mixture).
Stir in remaining reserved chopped chocolate and nuts.
Drop by 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake about 12 minutes or until cookies are puffed and feel set to the touch.
Cool on cookie sheet one minute.
Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Yield:
approximately 1 1/2 doz.
