Mardi Gras Kings Bread Ring - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 pkg. active dry yeast or 2 cakes compressed yeast
1/2 c. warm water (hot for dry yeast, lukewarm for compressed)
1/2 c. milk, scalded
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
2 tsp. salt
4 c. all-purpose flour (approximately)
3 eggs, well beaten
2 c. chopped candied fruits (citron, cherries and orange peel)
melted butter or margarine
confectioners sugar icing
Preparation

Soften yeast cake in water.
Pour hot milk over sugar, shortening (melted) and cool to lukewarm.
Beat in 1 cup of the flour to make a stiff dough.
Stir in 1 1/2 cups candied fruits, reserving remainder to decorate cake ring.
