Pear Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 bushel pears
    5 lb. sugar
Preparation
    Peel pears and slice very thin.
    Put about 1/4 of pears in a large pan, covering with sugar.
    Alternately add pears and sugar, until you've used them all.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and cook about 2 hours, stirring often.
