Caramel Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 cups sugar
    3/4 lb Crisco
    5 eggs
    3 cups flour
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    1-1/4 cups milk
    1 tsp vanilla
Preparation
    Cream sugar and Crisco; add eggs one at a time.
    Sift together dry ingredients three times; and alternately with milk to creamed mixture.
    Add vanilla.
    Mix well.
    Pour into four greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
    Bake at 325 degrees until cake tests done.
    Top springs back when touched lightly.
    Cool and frost with filling (recipe and directions below).
