Gingersnaps - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 C shortening
1 egg
2 1/4 c self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 C brown sugar, packed
1/4 C molasses
1 tsp. ground ginger
Granulated sugar
Preparation

Mix thoroughly shortening, brown sugar, egg & molasses. Blend in remaining ingredients, except sugar. Cover and chill for 1 hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Shape dough by rounded tsp. into balls. Dip top in granulated sugar. Place balls sugared side up three inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or just until set. Immediately remove from baking sheet. Yield 4 dozen.
