Italian Spaghetti Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. chopped onion
    4 cloves minced garlic
    4 Tbsp. olive oil
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. pepper
    2 tsp. salt
    2 lb. tomatoes
    1 Tbsp. oregano leaves
    1/2 c. chopped parsley
    1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
    2 c. water
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    In a 6 to 8-quart saucepan, cook onion and garlic in oil for 5 minutes.
    Add parsley, sugar, salt, pepper, tomato paste, tomatoes, water, oregano and bay leaf; stir well.
    Heat to boiling.
    Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 2 hours.
    Add meat balls during last half of cooking time.
    Stir occasionally.
