Ingredients

1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening (part butter)
3 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped hickory nuts
Preparation

Mix together well the sugars, shortening and eggs. Add dry ingredients with nuts and divide dough into 2 pieces. Make long rolls; wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight. Slice cookies 1/4-inch thick and bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
